Engagement Session at Cannon Beach, Oregon

March 6, 2026

There’s something about road trips that makes every stop feel like an adventure, and this session was no exception. I hit the road from Seattle back to the Bay with my best friend Olivia and her boyfriend Aidan, and of course, we couldn’t pass up Cannon Beach in Oregon. What was supposed to be a quick 20-minute stop for photos quickly turned into a 1.5-hour session, because when the scenery is this gorgeous, it’s impossible to put the camera down!

From the moment we arrived, the energy was effortless. Olivia and Aidan were just being themselves, laughing, teasing, and stealing quiet moments together, and it made capturing their connection so natural. We wandered along the shoreline, toes in the sand and waves crashing around us, letting the ocean and sky set the scene. There’s a magic to couples who can forget the camera and just enjoy each other, and every frame from this session reflects that authenticity.

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. We started shooting during golden hour, the warm light painting everything in soft oranges and pinks. As the sun dipped lower, we followed it into blue hour, the sky shifting to moody purples and deep blues while the moon quietly rose behind us. Frolicking in the water, chasing the light, and capturing their laughter in that kind of setting is exactly why I love shooting in locations like this, it’s a dream for both the couple and the photographer.

Cannon Beach is honestly a bucket-list location for me, and finally getting to shoot there was everything I hoped it would be. The combination of dramatic cliffs, wide-open beaches, and that ever-changing Pacific sky makes it one of the most beautiful spots I’ve ever photographed. It’s the kind of place that inspires creativity and lets every couple’s personality shine through naturally.

By the end of the session, I was smiling as much as they were, grateful for the adventure, the laughs, and the breathtaking backdrop that made every shot feel special. Engagement sessions like this are more than just photos; they’re memories captured in a place that will always hold meaning. If you’re dreaming of a session that’s full of light, laughter, and a little adventure, Cannon Beach, or any place that makes your heart happy, might just be the perfect spot to make it happen.
